Connecting with a Referral Partner
To start an FNHA referral, connect with Community Wellness or with one of these referral partners: your family doctor, a community counsellor, an addictions worker, a community health nurse, or the FNHA Virtual Doctor of the Day. Your referral partner will help you look at your treatment needs, find programs that fit, and send your applications to treatment centres.
Most treatment centres in BC have an intake process that requires a set number of counselling sessions, along with a period of sobriety, detox, or both, before admission.
Wait times for a treatment bed vary, and a spot is rarely available the next day. That’s why we offer stabilization plans here in community, so you have the support you need while you wait and the best chance of success when you go.
The original had “X amount of counselling sessions” as a placeholder. I wrote “a set number,” but if you know the typical number (for example, four to six sessions), putting it in would make the line more useful to readers.

In the Haisla Community Wellness Program
Our Community Member would see our Clinical Counsellor as the first step in a Treatment Centre process.
This is to ensure that an assessment provides information to choose the right Treatment Centre for each member.
